Bio
Cynonyte (a name that means absolutely nothing really) rose from the ashes of Anasazi, the first band with the original members, Mark Lucas and Micah Diller. After a few years of dormant state, a name change was applied and new band members were sought.
It all started with Mark writing songs with his computer and guitar with Micah screaming in the snake's dungeon. Many songs were created, but still one problem remained: It was just the two of them.
While on a job, some year+ later, Mark ran into Josh Schmidinger, a drummer who quickly showed his interest in joining the band. He showed up for an audition, and before he could fully warm up, he was hired. Original bassist, Glenn Pounds, surfaced less than a week before the first practice too. Things fell together like clockwork, and quickly. The people who heard it thought the band had been together for years.
Now, the band was ready to ignite the eardrums of the world with their sound. With metal influences ranging from Megadeth, Pantera, and Cradle of Filth, to strange other realms of music like punk and classic rock, this band was ready to bleed the ears of anyone who would listen.
Cynonyte debuted with a dual-show weekend, and followed up with 2 more shows 2 weekends later, including an invitation to compete in the East Coast Showcase--a battle of over 200 bands. Cynonyte won "Staff's Choice" on the first night of competition and eventually made it all the way to the semifinals.
In March of 2006, both original drummer, Josh Schmidinger, and original bassists, Glenn Pounds, resigned from the band to pursue personal interests. Ironically, Hippie (formerly of Torture Cell) who had been a long-time aquaintance of Mark jumped in as Cynonyte's new drummer. Chris Sattenfield (a long-time friend of the band) jumped in on Bass.
Within a few short weeks, 3 new songs were written and existing songs were vastly improved. The band played several more shows, including appearances at Ziggy's and Somewhere Else Tavern. With the newfound success, Cynonyte quickly jumped at the opportunity to record.. .and they did (sort of). Despite the quick jump from dormant to active, tragedy struck again in November of 2006 when bassist Chris Sattenfield left the band (frustration) and Hippie underwent dual hip surgery to correct his issue with Avascular Necrosis.
In the spring/summer of 2007, Cynonyte was back at it again and with some additional changes. Darren Holleman, ex-Torture Cell, has also joined Cynonyte as a secondary guitarist. Bassist Chris Sattenfield returned and picked up where he left off. And just when things started looking up, Micah fell out, leaving Mark Lucas as the sole remaining member of the original CYNONYTE. Mark took over vocal duties.
Through the end of 2007, Cynonyte wrote several more new songs and re-engineered many of their existing songs, optimizing their style to take advantage of Darren Holleman's talent. Cynonyte's sound reached new heights and things were finally starting to fall together like clockwork once again.
